WordPress Not Sending Emails Fix

Emails not reaching your users is one of the most common — and most frustrating — problems for WordPress site owners. Contact form messages, new user notifications, WooCommerce order emails — all can fail silently. The good news: in most cases you can fix it in under 5 seconds. This post explains the quickest safe fix, why it works, and a few reliable backups so your site never misses an important email again.

Important: Always keep a working backup before changing server or plugin settings. Use UpdraftPlus or your host's backup utility.

Why WordPress Emails Fail (quick overview)

WordPress uses the server's PHP mail() function by default. Many shared hosts restrict or poorly configure PHP mail, causing:

  • Emails landing in spam or being dropped
  • Contact form submissions not delivered
  • WooCommerce or registration emails not sending

The 5-Second Instant Fix (safe & effective)

Install and activate WP Mail SMTP, pick your mailer (Gmail, Mailgun, Sendinblue etc.), complete the one-click setup or enter SMTP credentials and click Save Settings. That Save is usually the 5-second switch to immediate delivery.

WP Mail SMTP → Settings → Mailer: Gmail → Complete OAuth → Save → Test Email
